Like a ghost town, the relic that is the RESFest website lives on, leaving no trace of human activity since early 2007. The sudden discontinuation of tour dates is the only indication that something went horribly wrong on this otherwise fully functional website.
With 10 quality years of exponential growth behind them, RESFest had established itself, well ahead of its time, as a leading global showcase for the best in digital filmmaking.
Conceived back in 1995 by Jonathan Wells during late-night experiments with non-linear editing at his multimedia studio in San Francisco, the festival started as a platform to screen high-end, digitally-made desktop productions in unique venues, using state-of-the-art digital projection.
By 2006 even your grandma had heard of RESFest as it jet-setted across the globe powered by big brand sponsors. From Cadiz to Cape Town, the tour was gathering headlines across mainstream media, drawing huge crowds of enthusiasts in each new city and suddenly – nothing.
If anyone knows what caused RESFest to vanish from this mortal earth, please let us know below.
