Submarine ChannelWe blogged about mad-as-a-hatter Chinese artist Cao Fei’s avatar cupid-playing a while back, prequeling the launch of her RMB City project in Second Life. The virtual city, a heady cocktail of urban landmarks of both East and West, officially opened in January 09, and an installation at Serpentine Gallery, London marks this momentous virtual ribbon-cutting. Video and computer portals to RMB City connect the fantastical city of symbols with the public opening its borders to a new audience of real, live, human non-avatars. Not in the Serpentine area?
