It’s clear that we at SubmarineChannel like title sequences a lot. Why we like them so much? Well, because title sequences are an excellent opportunity to show what a designer is capable of. It’s mixed media, it’s sound, text, often animation, (motion) graphics, special effects… It all comes together in those few minutes before the actual film starts.
But while the opening titles are often little masterpieces of creative interaction, the end titles are mostly very boring: scrolling white text on a black background. Not really something that keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Well, to convince you to stay and watch the movie until the last and final credit, Robert Ellis Orrall from the fictional indie rock band, Monkey Bowl composed the End Title Song. Besides urging you to pay proper attention to the third assistant of the makeup appliance department supervisor and her co-workers, the song also invites you to take all your junk with you. It’s really funny, just like the rest of Orral’ songs. Listen to an interview with Robert Ellis Orral on the End Title Song and the other tracks on his new album Ultimate via the radio show To The Best Of Our Knowledge. Interview starts at 37:15.
