Installing Video à la Pipilotti

Named after the prolific Swedish (thanks Marijn!) child adventuress Pippi Longstocking, conceptual Swiss lady Pipilotti Rist has developed a strong body of video artistry since creating Super 8-based show visuals for punk bands in the 1980s. The 1990s saw her develop a penchant for large-scale video installations, including the one that made her famous, “Pimple Porno” (1992), about female sexual arousal. In this interview, shot at Rotterdam’s Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen she talks about her shizzle (color, the imaginary landscapes, naked ladies), and other cultural intrigues.
