The next big thing in the world of virtual worlds could be Google’s answer to Second Life: the brand-new virtual world called Lively. Lively world could potentially have the effect that Second Life really never had, which is: to change the way we use the Web – for good. Google’s smart idea was to create a browser-based virtual world made up of individual, but connected, virtual ‘rooms’.
These rooms can be embedded (in the same way that YouTube videos can) on web pages, blogs, social networking profiles, etc., creating a potentially massive virtual universe of interconnected rooms. Lively is simple and easy to use. Google seems to target a less tech-savvy, younger audience, considering the cartoony look of the avatars and rooms. Now go and secure your alias before it’s taken, because Lively is here to stay, we thinks. (Snapshot taken in ‘Brasil Lively’ room).
