A hot June day in 1970, and Dock Ellis was doing what any self-respecting Major League Baseball hotshot would do: opening the doors of perception with LSD. That self-same evening – and still “high as a Georgia pine” – he managed to throw one of just 263 no-hitters ever made in the history of the baseball! Shortly before Ellis died last year, a couple of radio producers recorded this interview, as he describes that day with wistful warmth and remarkable clarity… And then a cool NY sports blog teamed up with Brooklyn artist James Blagden for this super-fun animation to top it off.
