Nine Inch Creative Commons

Nine Inch Nails, rock religion of the 1990s and pioneers of open source remixing in music video culture, released 400 gigs of high quality concert footage to the public last year. In a maelstrom of credit crunch consciousness, they side-stepped a costly concert video production inviting instead their fans to edit, remix, and screen their own versions. Everyone loves a good remix, and the public responded with aplomb! A year later, perhaps the most epic of the many brilliantly inventive productions that surfaced, is Another Version of the Truth: The Gift. Infused with love by a core team of dozens (with a network of thousands) spanning 3 continents, 4 languages, and 5 specialist teams, it is a rumbuncious slice of Creative Commons pie.

You can watch it pixelly on Youtube or access fancy versions here.
