2Pause: Pre-cinema animation: what you see is what you get

John Mayer’s new video on 2Pause ‘Submarine Test January 1967’ is one to fall in love with. The animation is made entirely without post-production. How? Producer Virgilio Villoresi used animation techniques from the pre-cinema era, aka optical toys. Lucky for us, there are lots of music videos created with optical toys like the ombro cinema, zoetropes, praxinoscopes, phenakistiscopes, and flip books. Take a look.
